Do I need vaccines for a family wedding trip to India?
Usually yes. Wedding trips mean large gatherings, home catering and often travel between cities and villages, so hepatitis A and typhoid are commonly advised alongside up to date tetanus, diphtheria and polio cover. Book four to six weeks ahead if the date allows.
Is the typhoid vaccine needed for Sri Lanka?
It is commonly recommended, particularly if you are staying with family or travelling outside the main resorts. Typhoid is a food and water infection, and one injection gives protection for around three years. Hepatitis A is normally advised alongside it.
How do I reach the clinic from Kenton station?

Is hepatitis B caught from food?
No. Hepatitis B is bloodborne, passed on through blood and bodily fluids, which is why it is advised for travellers who might need medical or dental treatment abroad, or who are staying long term. Hepatitis A is the food and water one, and the two are often confused.
Do I need Japanese encephalitis for rural South Asia?
It is considered for longer stays in rural farming and rice-growing areas, especially during and just after the rainy season. Japanese encephalitis is spread by Culex mosquitoes that bite mainly in the evening and at night, so the risk depends heavily on where you stay.
How soon before flying should I book?
Four to six weeks is ideal, which allows for courses needing more than one dose. Kenton residents who leave it later can usually still be seen the same week, and many vaccines give useful protection from a single dose given shortly before departure.

Ideally 4 to 6 weeks before travel, especially for vaccines that need multiple doses like Rabies or Japanese Encephalitis. For Hajj jabs and most single-dose vaccines, same-week appointments are fine. Even at short notice most travel vaccines still help.
