Usually yes, and the consultation takes account of your conditions, medicines and any treatment affecting your immune system, since a few vaccines need extra care. Bring a current repeat prescription list. Where a vaccine is not suitable, the pharmacist explains the alternatives and what your destination requires.
How many appointments does a multi-dose course need before a big trip?
It depends on the vaccine, with some needing two or three visits spaced over weeks, and rabies and hepatitis B being the common examples. Booking four to six weeks ahead usually allows a full course. If time is short, accelerated schedules may be possible after assessment.
Do we still need travel vaccines if we are staying in a lodge or resort?
Often yes. Food and water risks such as hepatitis A and typhoid do not disappear inside a resort, and entry requirements such as yellow fever apply regardless of accommodation. The assessment weighs your itinerary, excursions and the time of year rather than the standard of the hotel.
